Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas is reportedly set to join the cast of smash-hit British TV show Downton Abbey.

Cressida, 25, is in talks to join the show after having met with the show’s creator and executive producer Julian Fellowes, according the US Daily Star.

“Cressida is trying to break into Hollywood and knows a Downton role would do wonders for her profile, not only in the UK but also the US,” a source told the Star.

“She met Julian in the run-up to the Golden Globes.”

Harry’s former flame was also seen partying with other members of the Downton Abbey cast at the BAFTA tea party – a British party in Tinseltown in celebration of the Golden Globes.

There’s no word on what role part the young British aristocrat might play – but she wouldn’t be the first big name to make an appearance on the Downton set, with George Clooney making a recent addition to the cast for a special Christmas spin-off – reportedly much to the delight of the show’s acclaimed star Dame Maggie Smith.

Clearly keen to prove that she’s moved on from her fling with Harry and doesn’t need royal connections to build her profile, Cressida seems to be dedicating herself to launching a new career in Tinseltown.

The Downton Abbey reports come as the first pictures are released of the London party girl dressed in full Tudor-era garb in the new movie Tulip Fever, produced by the Weinstein company.

Hollywood heavyweight Harvey Weinstein has reportedly named the blonde beauty as “one to watch”.

Set in 17th century Amsterdam, Tulip Fever‘s story centres on an artist who falls for a married young woman when he’s commissioned to paint her portrait by her husband. The pair then invest in the risky tulip market in the hope of building a future together.

Cressida is cast in the role of Mrs Steen, a merchant’s young wife, while fellow young British beauty, model Cara Delevingne will star alongside, playing artists’ model Annetje.

The new dramatic roles follow close behind Cressida landing a high-profile modelling gig for major British label Mulberry, who announced the British beauty as the face of their new campaign. It seems modelling runs in Cressida’s blood, as her mother Lady Mary Gaye Curzon, had a successful modelling career in the 60s.

It looks like we’ll have to keep a close eye on Ms Bonas who clearly has big things to come!
