Is Offspring coming back for a sixth season?

Cue the internal monologue because our favourite drama, Offspring is rumoured to make a return to television screens in 2016!
A woman and a baby sit on a bed with colorful artwork on the wall, both smiling at the camera.

After a two-year hiatus recent reports suggest the beloved and slightly neurotic Nina Proudman will be back with the rest of the gang for a sixth season.

The Logie-winning drama, which stars the phenomenal Asher Keddie would be a welcomed return to our screens after the abrupt end in 2014.

Claims made by The Sunday Telegraph suggest the showโ€™s pre-production will be given the green light as Endemol, the production company originally behind the project, and producers from Shine, finalise a planned merger. Included in the merger are the masterminds behind the dramedy, John Edwards and Imogen Banks.

Weโ€™re still recovering from the shock death of Dr Patrick Reid.

A Channel Ten spokesperson informed the Daily Mail Australia earlier in the week that theyโ€™re โ€œin talks with the production company and hopeful Offspring will return, but nothing is definite.โ€

Though the show ended by tying up Ninaโ€™s story with the bubbly blonde finding love with Leo โ€“ fans wanted more!

Tenโ€™s chief programming officer Beverley McGarvey told The Daily Telegraphsheโ€™d love to see the show continue.

โ€œThere have been five seasons but dramas can go a lot longer than that,โ€ she explained.

โ€œWeโ€™re in the process of talking about how we would keep going. It is certainly our intention to make that series last as long as possible and as long as people want to keep watching it.โ€

Adding, โ€œIt was such a powerful end to last season but the team has done a great job of โ€ฆ getting back to the heart and the humour of the show.โ€

Offspring embedded itself into our television landscape, with Nina becoming Australiaโ€™s very own Bridget Jones.

Each week the show delivered great storylines and performances โ€“particularly the heart-wrenching on-screen death of Matthew Le Nevezโ€™s Dr Patrick Reid.

We think Australia will back us up in full support of the return of Offspring!
