Since Joan Rivers’ passing, Fashion Police has been anything but a success, with in-house feuding, offensive comments and the departure of two hosts.
Now with Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin walking out on the program months ago after Giuliana Rancic’s racist joke, Joan’s daughter Melissa Rivers, who had always been executive producer, has stepped in as host.
And in an effort to continue the late comedienne’s legacy, Melissa introduced a segment titled “What Would Joan Say,” where co-hosts Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski, Margaret Cho and Nene Leakes would be shown an outfit and have to give a response that would reach Joan River’s standards.
Melissa explained: “There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t see something and think, ‘What would my mom say about this?” before adding: “Let’s find out in our newest segment, ‘What Would Joan Say?'”
The special MTV VMA’s episode saw the panel review Justin Bieber’s new look and they certainly didn’t hold back – just like Joan!
Margaret Cho quipped, in her best Joan voice, “I just hope that jacket is pleather because if even one animal died for this stupid look, it’s a tragedy.”
The daughter of the late, sharp-tongued comedic legend ended the segment in the most cheeky way, “I think my mother would say, ‘isn’t she pretty?’”
Meanwhile former host Kelly Osbourne, who made her outrage towards Giuliana’s comments on show earlier this year very public, sent some flowers and kind words to her former boss Melissa.
“@MelRivers congratulations on an awesome show tonight!” The 30-year-old Tweeted.
The mum-of-one responded: “@KellyOsbourne I love you!!! The flowers are amazing and you owned the lavender carpet! Xxx #friends #mysister.”
