“I was really excited to be a part of such a great show, we did a few screen tests and then went from there,” the starlet explained of landing the gig.

The blonde beauty, who is married to rugby league player Nate Myles, was especially thrilled to work with renowned Australian production company Playmaker Media on the hugely popular series.

“I was really interested on working with great people, actors, directors and Playmaker Media – they produce some really great dramas,” she mused.

The Logie nominated-drama boasts a star-studded cast including Jessica Marais, Jonathan LaPaglia and Mandy McElhinney. It follows the everyday challenges of fictional Kings Cross hospital, Stanton House, and is based in Sydney in the late Seventies.

And it was this intriguing plot that enticed the Melbourne-born beauty: “Love Child is such an interesting show, different from anything else I had ever done. I really wanted to tell the story of one of these young girls,” Tessa told Woman’s Day.

For the small role, Tessa plays a troubled pregnant woman. No doubt she would have taken on this situation with ease after her character Nicole in Home And Away also falls pregnant and ends up adopting her child to another family.

But the biggest struggle was creating that pregnancy glow! “You always get a shock [when you strap on a prosthetic belly]. Like everyone, when your body changes shape it’s a shock. It was hard to create that real pregnancy glow,” she laughed.

But despite the faux bump, Tessa said playing a pregnant woman was a “great” experience.

The one perk being on a show about pregnancy? All the adorable babies! “They were all so gorgeous,” the starlet noted.

Tessa doesn’t hesitate when it comes to choosing the highlight of her time on the show. “Being on set in my element and being surrounded by inspiring people every day. [The cast were] motivating and inspiring. It was an honour to be able to work and learn alongside them.”
