The Voice judges Jesse J and Delta Goodrem have engaged in some fiery debates this season, but the Born to Try singer tells News.com.au that “there can be a lot of illusions with TV editing.”
The 30-year-old revealed that her well-promoted walk off set came after “hours and hours and hours and hours,” of filming.
She added: “with the walk off, it was very different to the story [than what was showed on air]. But being the Aussie judge I really care about Australian artists.”
Passionate Delta went on to explain: “If they don’t get through they have to walk out to their family and friends. I don’t look at it like a TV show in that way, I look at it like a person who has a dream and we’re really lucky we get to sit in those seats. Because we didn’t turn doesn’t mean we’re right either.”
The Logie winner put those feud rumours with her fellow judge to bed by revealing: “When Jessie and I walk off set we’re friends. We have such respect for each other. We’ve just got different styles. It’s incredible we have an artist like Jessie, who is killing it around the world, giving the advice she does. But Jessie and I send each other emails and have a good laugh.”
But make no mistake, Delta isn’t at all upset about these fractured relationship whispers, “What’s incredible is that people are watching the show. That’s more exposure for the artists, even if they tune in to see us being passionate. And if it gets passionate it’s just because we all care about the artists.”
The divas locked heads on the reality show prompting Delta to storm off the set following a disagreement with the British popstar.
“I’m over this s**…I give up,” she fumed while holding back tears. The Innocent Eyes hitmaker proceeded to grab her phone and run away, before telling the others: “I’m out.”
The Aussie sweetheart and Jessie J have been butting heads throughout the blind auditions and on last night’s episode, Delta finally snapped during an argument over Queensland singing teacher Tamara Callaghan’s rendition of Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend.
Despite the chaos that unfolded on our screens, the singers have since patched up their differences. The former Neighbours star certainly doesn’t enjoy the idea of pitting the two female coaches against each other, “I’m not into that. I’m all about the power of women. It is boring to pit females against each other.”
Delta is all about equality. Earlier this week the singer dropped a poetic and inspirational new ballad, You And You Alone, in support of marriage equality.
Love your work, Delta!
