British comedian and actor Rik Mayall has died at his South London home, aged 56.
Best known for his roles as Rik in the cult series The Young Ones and Alan B’Stard in The New Statesman, the father of three passed away suddenly on Monday.
Police were called to a house in Barnes and “a man, aged in his 50s” was pronounced dead at the scene.
As investigations into the cause of his death continue, Rik’s grieving wife Barbara Robbin is still coming to terms with the tragic loss of her husband.
“We don’t know yet what happened. He had a strong heart, so I don’t think it was a heart attack. But we just don’t know until the coroner’s report,” Barbara told The Telegraph.
“Maybe he had a fit, maybe it was his heart. We just don’t know.”
Rik’s management company has also released a statement following the iconic stars devastating death.
“He will be missed by all who knew and loved him,” the statement read.
Rik’s death is not believed to be suspicious.
