Grant Hackett’s hasty departure to the US for rehab has come at the worst possible time for the fallen swim star.
As graphic images emerged of the dazed Olympian stumbling near-naked through a Melbourne casino lobby on February 22, Grant and his ex-wife Candice Alley were embroiled in a bitter dispute over his access to the kids.
The welfare of their 4-year-old twins Charlize and Jagger was a major sticking point for the beleaguered couple, who split in 2012 after five years of marriage.
Insiders now believe any hope he had of unsupervised visits to the children has been quashed by his bizarre behaviour in Melbourne.
