He didn’t get the girl but Bachelorette runner-up Matty J has publicly thanked the other two leading ladies in his life for all their support during what he describes as “one of the most unique experiences of my life”.
On Sunday evening, the Bondi local finally switched his Instagram account off private and shared his first social media post since the dating show wrapped.
In the sweet snap, Matty is flanked by his mother, his older sister and adorable nephew as they all shared a laugh.
“Credit to these two amazing women who have helped guide me through one of the most unique experiences of my life,” Matty J penned next to the pic.
“I had the most incredible time and I’m so glad I got to share it with some of the best guys I’ve ever come across,” he added.
The popular reality star also gave a shout-out to Georgia Love and her new boyfriend Lee Elliott, wishing the happy couple nothing but the best for the future and sending his thoughts to the Love family as Georgia’s mum battles aggressive pancreatic cancer.
“I wish Lee and Georgia all the happiness with their future together, especially during this difficult time. Both of you deserve nothing less,” Matty concluded.
Since uploading the message, the marketing manager has been inundated with praise for handling his very public break-up with Georgia in such a dignified manner.
“Love the fact you’ve handled this with so much grace. You deserve nothing else but the best Matty J. Wish you all the best in the future,” one fan wrote.
“What a man,” another simply put it.
“Matty, thank you for sharing your journey with all if Australia! We were all heart broken with you! One door closes and another opens! Beautiful and amazing things will happen to you and you will meet your soulmate at the right time,” another fan reassured him.
Other fans were simply elated Matty’s account was finally off private mode! Indeed, the 29-year-old’s Instagram page is filled with precious moments which show just how much he loves being an uncle, his passion for travel and his ever-growing tattoo collection.

Last week, Matty J told Woman’s Day his family had been an incredible strength of support during his heartache.
“I’m so grateful! When I arrived back in Sydney, my mum was in town from Brisbane just by coincidence.”
To walk back into my sister’s home with her there and my mum there and my nephew… It meant everything because they’re part of the reason why it’s been a bit more manageable,” he said.
Meanwhile in a new interview with Popsugar, Matty admitted he still has strong feelings for Georgia.
“As hard as it is to say this, my feelings towards Georgia haven’t changed at all really. I still miss her. I still love her. It’s hard.”
Despite the heartache, Matty has reached out to Lee. “We’ve spoken a couple of times, initially it was a bit tough because in a sense he’s the reason for my heartbreak,” he told us.
“But Lee and I became really close throughout the show, you become each other’s support network and Lee was definitely that for me.”
As for whether he can one day be friends with the Melbourne journalist, who he described as “one in a million”, Matty isn’t so sure.
“It would be nice to be on talking terms, definitely not every single day. It would be nice if we did bump into each other to have a conversation and it not to be awkward.”
“Even out of respect to Lee, I wouldn’t want to pursue a friendship. It just feels like it would be inappropriate to him and difficult to myself to try and move on at this time.”
