Prince George will attend his first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea in London on September 7.
And Kensington Palace have confirmed that mum and dad – Prince William and Duchess Catherine – will be there to drop off their little one.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, accompanying Prince George, will be met on arrival at the school by the Head of Lower School, Helen Haslem, who will then escort Their Royal Highnesses to Prince George’s reception classroom,” a statement from the palace read.
Young George, who turned four in July, has been enrolled in one of three reception classes, and he will join a mixed class of boys and girls at the $AUD28,607 per year school.
Described as “the best English education money can buy”, the school looks for children who “have a measure of confidence, are responsive, sociable, with a light in their eyes.”
It is expected the future King will learn French from day dot, and Latin will become compulsory from year five.
Earlier this year, William and Kate took their son to the school’s orientation day.
“They were there just chatting with the other parents. They seemed very sweet and normal,” a source told E! News.
“George was there as well. He met his new teacher.”
“The kids went into their new classrooms for an hour to meet their new classmates and hear from their teachers,” the insider added.
“During that time, the parents met the head of the school and were given a welcome talk where they were told the exact specifics of the children’s first day.”
The school, which is just a stone’s throw from their royal residence, currently has 544 day pupils, aged between four and 13.
George’s education announcement came last March.
“Their Royal Highnesses are delighted to have found a school where they are confident George will have a happy and successful start to his education,” the palace said in a statement at the time.
The decision to send the little Prince there was not taken lightly by the royal parents, both 35.
Last May, the dad-of-two was chatting about Charlotte and George, saying, “They’re both doing very well at the moment – noisy but lovely. Just trying to sort out schools now – it’s going very well.”
As the Cambridges gear up to enter this exciting new chapter of their lives, George’s mummy recently confessed that he doesn’t have “any idea what’s going to hit him.”
Becoming a fulltime student will no doubt be a huge change compared to his quiet country life in Norfolk.
Just like any other mum, Kate will be with him every step of the way, even at school drop-offs.
During an official outing, the 35-year-old spoke with Richard Found and his wife Jane Suitor, who are parents at the school.
“We were chatting about Thomas’s, the school George will be going to,” Richard recounted.
“We’re parents there as well. She just said, ‘I may see you at the school gates.'”
