Don’t panic but something is happening at Buckingham Palace.
Several UK publications claim Queen Elizabeth has summoned all of her UK staff and family members for an emergency meeting at her London palace.
When the news broke it was 4:00am in the UK. It was believed an official announcement would be made at 8am London time but so far, nothing has eventuated.
BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt has tweeted that The Queen and Prince Philip are both OK.
“There’ll be a staff meeting at Buckingham Palace this morning. It’s not to do with the health of either the Queen or Prince Philip,” the reporter revealed.
“The BBC understands there is no cause for concern regarding the health of either the Queen or Prince Philip,” he added.
Meanwhile, Her Majesty’s former press chief for 12 years, Dickie Arbiter, believes the staff meeting “could well be about the Buckingham Palace refurbishment.”
He also claimed staff being called to a meeting was “nothing unusual.”
The flags at Buckingham Palace are not at half-mast, signalling a royal death has not occurred.
“Everyone is on tenterhooks,” one source explained to The Daily Mail.
“Although meetings involving the entire royal household are occasionally called, the way this has been done at the eleventh hour is highly unusual and suggests that there is something major to be disseminated.”
“But at the moment, only those closest to her genuinely know what on earth this is all about.”
Staff from all around the UK, including Windsor Castle, Balmoral and Sandringham have reportedly been requested to attend the briefing.
It’s believed they will be addressed by Lord Chamberlain, who is the highest member of staff in the Royal Household.
Online, fans have been flung into a fury of speculation.
Many believe the meeting may concern news regarding the well-being of Prince Philip or The Queen.
While more rogue predictions range from The Queen’s abdication or staff cuts.
While mass hysteria has quickly overtaken the internet, Lord Chamberlain holds full staff meetings several times a year.
Others believe The Queen, 91, could be announcing a scaling back of duties and handing over more royal responsibilities to Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla.
The 95-year-old Duke was last pictured in public this week when he attended the Marylebone Cricket Club to open the new Warner Stand at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on May 3.
Just yesterday The Queen attended a meeting with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, which went for much longer than their usual catch ups.
According to the official royal website, The Queen and Prince Philip are scheduled to attend a Service for Members of the Order of Merit at the Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace on Thursday, May 4.
“Afterwards, Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will give a luncheon for those attending the Service,” the notice reads.
In January, the royal couple suffered bouts of ill health with heavy colds forcing them to miss their traditional Christmas Day church service.
Buckingham Palace are yet to offer any official comment but that hasn’t stopped Twitter coming up with its own theories (see below).
We will continue to bring you more developments as we get them.
