The Will & Grace revival just keeps on getting bigger and better!
We thanked our lucky stars when the original ten-episode run was upped to 12 and then again to 16 episodes.
Now it has been confirmed that a SECOND series of the reboot will air in 2018.
The second season will consist of 13 episodes, but at this rate we could possibly see more!
The 16 episode revival will be available for streaming on STAN Australia on September 29.
Actress Debra Messing, who plays Grace, also revealed to Fairfax Media that the new series will address the death of Debbie Reynolds, who played Bobbi Adler, Grace’s mother.
Debbie, who appeared in ten episodes of Will & Grace, passed away in December last year following the death of her daughter Carrie Fisher.
With just over a month until the reboot premieres (you can stream the new episodes on STAN Australia from September 29), many fans have wondered how the new series will begin, considering where the show left off in 2006.
But NBC Entertainment President Bob Greenblatt has assured fans that they have it all figured out.
“There’s a really interesting and clever way why they’re still living together,” Bob said.
Speaking to EW recently, the cast and creators opened up about how quickly the revival came together.
The initial idea took shape following the nine-minute election short the team filmed last year encouraging people in America to get out and vote.
“I was sitting on the couch in my house, reading the script and then I emailed Max [series creator Max Mutchnick] and I said, ‘Why can’t we do this show again?’ And he emailed right back saying ‘We can!’” Megan Mullally, who plays Karen Walker on the show recalls.
Max Mutchnick, who is also the executive producer for the series, was astounded at how easy it was to get the gang back together again.
“The strangest thing about it is how comfortable and natural everybody has been with the whole thing,” he says.
“We did this not having seen each other for 10 years and then decided one day to show up to work and got right back to it.”
We have no clue what to expect from this revival, but we just can’t wait to watch Will (Eric McCormack), Grace, Karen and Jack (Sean Hayes) getting up to mischief again.
Earlier this year, Max teased us with an excerpt from a script referencing a wedding and a monkey… So by the sounds of things, we could be in for some whacky plot lines ahead!
Will & Grace ran from 1998 to 2006 and was nominated for an impressive 83 Emmy Awards during that time.
