The most iconic series, Will & Grace celebrated its 25th anniversary on June 7, 2023 after premiering for the first time in 1998.
To celebrate, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite moments from Will (Eric McCormack), Grace (Debra Messing), Karen (Megan Mullally) and Jack (Sean Hayes) in the original series.
1. Booby trap
Season 2, Episode 3: “Das Boob”
After Grace receives a call from her high school crush, she’s determined to make a lasting impression.
Enter: the hydra-bra, “water-filled for extra perkiness”.
But when Grace’s bra springs a leak after catching on Karen’s brooch, not even Will’s reflexes are fast enough to save her.
Memorable quote: “This is ridiculous. I look like a ski resort.” – Grace.
2. Locking lips
Season 2, Episode 14: “Acting Out”
What starts as a protest against NBC for cutting a highly anticipated gay kiss out of a sitcom, turns into a pivotal moment for Will.
He plants a statement-making smacker on Jack during a live segment on NBC’s The Today Show.
Memorable quote: “One giant step for man on mankind.” – Will.
3. Blast from the past
Season 3, Episode 8: “Lows In The Mid-Eighties”
Sitcoms love treating viewers to a flashback episode – this two-parter is a ripper.
Heart-warming and heart-wrenching, we see how Will and Jack became friends, and how Will came out to Grace.
Memorable quote: “You’re my new best friend. Call me every five minutes!” – Jack to Will.
4. White wedding
Season 1, Episode 22: “The Object Of My Rejection”
Karen’s maid Rosario’s green card is due to expire, so Jack agrees to tie the knot to keep her in the country.
Bad news, fans – our favourite maid won’t return for the revival. Shelley Morrison (above) has since retired from acting.
Memorable quote: “This is so stupid. I look like a piñata.” – Rosario.
5. Faking it
Season 2, Episode 22: “My Best Friend’s Tush”
Fact: Karen Walker can do no wrong.
From bickering with maid Rosario, to her shenanigans with Jack, the hard-drinking multi-millionairess also won us over with her alias, “Anastasia Beaverhausen”.
Any episode featuring Anastasia scores an A+ from us.
