Beloved Aussie drama Wentworth is set to return for its eight season, and if the newly released teaser is anything to go by, we are in for one crazy ride.
The very short but very tantalising clip shows a dimly-lit Joan “The Freak” Ferguson (Pamela Rabe) alone in a dark room, with one menacing message.
“Some secrets don’t stay buried,” she says before adding: “They have no idea what’s coming.”
Talk about terrifying!
Foxtel has confirmed the TV WEEK Logie Award winning drama will return, with The Freak this June.
Start counting down the days!
The iconic character made a shock return in the final moments of the gripping season seven finale with a quick glimpse confirming she was alive after being presumed dead.
The Freak was killed off, or so we thought, when she was buried alive by Will (Robbie Magasiva) – his revenge for her torturous reign and the murder of prison Queen Bee, Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack).
The last time we saw The Freak, she was screaming in horror trapped in a box underground, left only with a lighter and a drawing of Bea. Making what we can only assume was a Kill Bill-esque escape, she appeared in the season seven finale living amongst a group of homeless people, presumably plotting her revenge.
We can only guess Will is at the top of her hit-list.
“I don’t think Will even thought about the consequences [of burying The Freak alive],” Robbie told TV WEEK after the 2018 finale. “Without even thinking, it was an opportunity, so he did it.”
Will’s accomplices, Jake (Bernard Curry) and Vera (Kate Atkinson) are likely targets too – having helped cover up her murder.
One thing is certain; we wouldn’t want to be the target of any revenge plot by The Freak.
