Calling all Wentworth fans! Foxtel just revealed the season 8 premiere date and dropped a juicy new trailer

Foxtel has officially revealed show’s the season eight premiere date – Tuesday July 28 at 8.30pm on Foxtel’s Showcase channel.

Fans of the hit prison drama have been waiting almost a year for new episodes, following the jaw-dropping season seven finale that saw the unexpected turn of Joan “The Freak” Ferguson, played by Pamela Rabe, who is still very much alive.

Season eight will pick up following the shocking murder of an inmate by a corrupt guard, as well as the birth of a baby.

The show’s stellar Aussie female cast, including Leah Purcell, Susie Porter and Kate Atkinson will all be returning for the new season, which will feature 10 episodes.

It’s understood the production on the show was still able to go ahead despite the current pandemic, as filming on the eighth season began in Melbourne last October.

Wentworth‘s ninth and final season, which will also feature 10 episodes, is likely to air later next year.

The first seven seasons of Wentworth are currently available to stream on Foxtel Demand.

Wentworth S8 will premiere Tuesday, July 28 at 8.30pm on Fox Showcase and Foxtel Now.*
