In more good news for television’s night of nights, last night’s broadcast of the 59th TV WEEK Logie Awards on the Nine Network rated number one across all shows for Sunday night.
According to OZTAM, the TV WEEK Logie Awards achieved a national peak audience of 1.766 million, making it the most-watched show on a highly competitive Sunday night. Overall, the show achieved a national average of 1.301 million.
The many that tuned in were treated to an explosive and emotionally charged night, as Molly actor Samuel Johnson won the highest honour in Australian television, the TV WEEK Gold Logie. Fighting back the tears as he dedicated his award to his ill sister Connie, Samuel was visibly humbled to receive the honour. Joined on stage by the man he portrayed, Molly Meldrum, who also grabbed headlines for his speech, Samuel’s win was an exclamation point on a night of high drama and entertainment.
It was also a night to honour a television legend, with Kerri-Anne Kennerley inducted into the TV WEEK Hall Of Fame for her 50 years in front of the camera. Her poignant acceptance speech made all the more touching by the presence of husband John in the audience.

When it came to entertainment, the TV WEEK Logies didn’t disappoint, with a roof-raising performance from singer – and TV WEEK Logie nominee – Jessica Muaboy, as well as poignant performance from Casey Donovan, whose version of David Bowie’s “Heroes” was used in the In Memoriam section. International musical heavyweights James Blunt and Andy Grammer rounded out the impressive performances.
