In October, longtime Today show host Lisa Wilkinson announced the shocking news that she was departing the Channel Nine breakfast show, only to announce less than an hour later that she was joining Network Ten’s The Project.
And now, we’ve been given a first look at the presenter alongside new co-hosts Carrie Bickmore, Peter Helliar and Waleed Aly.
In two different promo videos (one can be seen above), the three regular Project hosts appear to poke fun at Lisa. In a round-table discussion, Waleed asks Lisa what she can bring to the show.
“For example, I have a Gold Logie,” Waleed says.
“And I have a Gold Logie,” adds Carrie.
“And I’ve got a Golden Gaytime,” jokes Peter, before Lisa fires off with her own accomplishments.
“Well, I’m a journalist, broadcaster, mother, former magazine editor, youth campaigner, women’s advocate, oh, and I’m a member of the Order of Australia,” she replies.
“Welcome aboard,” says Carrie.

While The Project is back on the small screen next week, we won’t see Lisa on the show ’till the end of this month. She’ll be sitting in the hot seat on Sunday nights with Hamish McDonald, Friday nights with Waleed, and with the regular cast on another weeknight.
After Lisa made the announcement she was leaving Today due to an alleged pay gap dispute, the Project panel shared their congratulations over the new role.
“Nine’s loss is our gain here at Network Ten,” Carrie said of the surprise move.
“An incredible woman — smart, funny, down to earth. We couldn’t be more excited.”
Waleed joked, “I have always really loved Lisa and it is nice to be able to contractually say it now.”
