Grab your Karen Walker-inspired cocktail and hit play, because the first trailer for the Will & Grace revival has arrived.
The short clip, which promotes the 12-episode reboot, sees Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally stepping back into the iconic roles they created over 20 years ago.
Fans will be pleased to know the core four – Will, Grace, Jack and Karen – haven’t changed one bit. In the five minute trailer, the ever-neurotic Grace is afraid to return to the series, while Will is overly enthusiastic.
Meanwhile, Karen and Jack are unaware they were even starring in a TV show. It seems they also haven’t left the studio apartment since 2006 when the series ended.
While the jokes have been updated to fit the digital era, the chemistry is exactly the same. Our nostalgia feels are at all all-time high when Jack and Karen faux-slap each other.
The revival is being penned by the show’s original creators, Max Mutchnick and David Kohan. James Burrows will also resume his role as director and executive producer.
Discussions about commissioning another full season of the show began in September last year as the cast reunited for a 10-minute election-themed webisode.
“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back,” NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement. “This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary — all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture — is coming back where it belongs.”
Will & Grace ran from 1998 to 2006 and was nominated for an impressive 83 Emmy Awards during that time. It remains one of the most iconic and ground-breaking sitcoms of all time.
We can’t wait to see the gang back together!
