What is the plot of season six?
Season six covers the final days of Diana’s life, however it has been confirmed by Netflix that the moment of her death will not be included in the show.
The adult versions of Prince William and Kate Middleton will be introduced, and season six will have a strong focus on William and Harry, following them in their adolescent and young adult years.
Released photos from Netflix also seem to allude to William and Catherine’s romance being depicted, as the images look to be set at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where the couple’s relationship first sparked.
Netflix also alluded to the inclusion of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ wedding in 2005, sharing a photo of an invitation via social media.
There is no specific date that has been stated to be marked as the final moment in the series, however season six will not include any present-day royal moments. It will likely wrap up around the early 2000s, concluding around 2005. Prince Charles and Camilla’s wedding scene is apparently the final scene that was shot by the cast, which leads to believe it may be the conclusion of the show.
Is season six the end of The Crown?
Creator of The Crown, Peter Morgan, originally announced that the series would conclude with season five. However, in July 2020, he revealed a change of mind and decided to create one more season.
Morgan spoke to Netflix, saying “as we started to discuss the storylines for series five, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons”.
It has been confirmed that season six will in fact be the final instalment of the drama series.
