Perth mum Georgia is left in tears on The Block this week when she’s accused by a rival team of stealing, cheating and copying style designs.
The 33-year-old prides herself on her eye for design and renovating experience. But all that is questioned during a heated group meeting.
“It was just a ‘Ronnie and Georgia sledging match’,” Georgia tells TV WEEK of the meeting.
“People had issues with the fact that we brought builders over from Perth. We paid for the flights and they were crashing in one of our rooms.
“And everyone else’s builder has been doing that, so we didn’t think it would be an issue.”
But Georgia was wrong.
“I wasn’t sure if tradesmen staying over was OK, so I wanted to ask the question,” Melbourne plumber Jason, 46, says of his decision to call a body corporate meeting.
“It pretty much turned pear-shaped and everyone just started yelling and screaming.”
It wasn’t just Georgia and husband Ronnie’s tradie tactics that irked the other teams. According to carpenter Sticks, the couple copied their winning bedroom design from Melbourne store Norsu Interiors.
“We do believe the room did look similar to a photo that was circulating,” Sticks, 31, says.
But Georgia disagrees.
“I got the inspiration from their visual merchandising, which is the whole point of visual merchandising,” she explains. “A lot of time and effort went into that room, so how dare they say we cheated. They’re just sore losers.”
This week, Josh and Elyse add fuel to the fire by accusing Ronnie and Georgia of taking off with their iPad.
“We saw Georgia walk out with it and it kind of tipped me over the edge,” model Elyse, 24, says.
But Georgia and Ronnie say they mistakenly picked up the iPad believing it was theirs, as all the teams had the same device. When they realised what had happened, they returned it immediately.
