Young Melbourne couple Elyse Knowles and Josh Barker have been riding the success of winning The Block 2017 AND selling their first home a mere three weeks later. After comedian Dave Hughes bought their luxury Block property for $3.067 million (they walked away with $547,000), their own Melbourne abode went under the hammer for $1.631 million.

But the 25-year-old model and 28-year-old carpenter have revealed they’ll be camping for the summer because they don’t have a home to go to.

“We sold our own personal home now. We have gone from two houses to none, so we are homeless,” Elyse said on Today on Friday morning.

“I think we will be camping all summer on the beach, which is a good thing. We did sell our home for $1.63 million, which was a record for Coburg, so you beauty.”

The couple are used to living it a bit rough – they renovated their Coburg house for two years.

“We went a long time without showers, we showered outside,” Elyse told Domain about the renovation process. “We lived off a barbecue. We had no walls during winter so we had a puffer jacket on going to bed.”

Elyse confessed that after they have a break over summer, they’ll find another house to renovate.

“Then we’ll be buying another ugly duckling … and then we can renovate and hopefully do grand designs and a more architectural build and show off our talents a bit more,” Elyse told News.com.au.

But they’ll be having a little break before doing so – they need to soak up their big Block win! “I just want to be chilling out at the beach or the river, and just take time out for ourselves,” said Elyse.

“I think it’s really important when you’re so busy just to take a step back and appreciate everything you’ve done in the year.”
