Following last night’s incredibly tense judging on The Block, Perth contestant Ronnie reveals he thought his fellow contestants would be kicked off immediately.
Melbourne couple Jason and Sarah gave up renovating their master suite last week after struggling to cope with saying farewell to their children, coupled with budget constraints.
“We’ve been given these gifts and there are a lot of people who applied for this show, and that was completely disrespectful,” Ronnie, 41, says.
The judges gave the couple a total score of zero, the lowest score that’s ever been given on The Block.
Host Scott Cam gave Jason and Sarah an ultimatum – deliver both their master suite and kitchen in one week, or they will be kicked off the show.
“I was expecting them to get kicked off the show straight away,” Ronnie says.
“Because they gave up last Wednesday. You know, just imagine the viewers at home watching the episodes and thinking, ‘I applied for that show – why them and not us?’ They’d given up.”
Fellow contestant Josh, 28, describes Jason and Sarah as giving up on their renovation as “disappointing”.
“I don’t give in and I don’t give up until it’s over and I don’t go to bed early either,” carpenter Josh says.
“For them to say that before they even started, that was pretty gutless.”
Josh adds he thinks Jason and Sarah are wasting the opportunity they’ve been given.
“I know a lot of personal things are happening in their life, but so are things for others,” Josh says.
“We’ve got 12 weeks of this, and only one opportunity – you’ve really got to make the most of it.”
