Tempers flared on The Block this week when Ronnie and Georgia were accused of cheating.
Melbourne plumber Jason says the Perth couple had an unfair advantage coming into the competition.
It was revealed they had studied the architect’s plans for The Block before filming had even started.
This meant that Ronnie and Georgia were aware of the houses they were going to be renovating and could put plans in place.
“They do have a bit of an advantage over everyone,” Jason, 46, tells TV WEEK.
Fellow contestant Wombat was also fuming.
“They know what’s coming up,” the 38-year-old salesman declares.
Meanwhile, Ronnie and Georgia are adamant they’ve done nothing wrong. The couple confidently confess they had seen the architect’s plans as they were on the public record.
They even admit they’d discussed the backyard with a landscaper. They wanted to figure out what they could do before beginning the renovations.
“We organised a meeting with a landscape designer in Perth,” Georgia, 33, reveals. “We said, ‘We think this is the site – what could we potentially do?’
“But there were five lots on that plan, and we didn’t know which one we’d get.
“It was a bit of pre-planning. Everyone has done it – if you haven’t, you’re not very smart.”
Ronnie, 41, says all the teams had pre-planned. They all had a builder in place, and Josh and Elyse even secured landscaper David Franklin early on.
“If you rock up on day one with no design or thought, you’ve already lost,” he says.
