He’s the gruff and no-nonsense host that whips the contestants in to shape, while she’s the bubbly host that offers support.
Together, Scott Cam and Shelley Craft have one of the most enduring working relationships in television and have now worked on The Block for the past 10 seasons.
Yet asked if he’d ever considered stepping down from the hosting role of The Block, Scott looks perplexed.
“No, why would you ask that?” he says. “Got someone else in mind?”
It would be hard to imagine anyone else in the mantle, because as Scott, 54, says, he’s tailor made for the hosting duties.
“I’ve got the building experience and so it’s a good fit for me,” he says.
“I’ll do it as long as they’ll have me.”
However mum of two Shelley, 41, admits there is one reason she would consider leaving the show – if it ever placed a strain on her family.
Based in Byron Bay with her husband Christian and daughters Milla, six, and Eadie, five, Shelley commutes to Melbourne to film the TV show.
“I’ve always said, the minute I see my family suffering because of what I do for a job, then that’s it and that’s the end,” she says.
Yet she adds that she only films two days a week and the commitments suits her at the moment.
“It works really well and the girls get such beautiful quality dad time which I think they’re blessed with,” she adds.
Shelley also loves working alongside Scott.
“What you see is what you get,” she says.
“We joke about the fact that we’re still here after so long and how lucky we are and what a great team we are. He’s a superstar and a delightful man and just good fun.”
