The trailer for The Big Bang Theory prequel series Young Sheldon has been released and it looks really good!
News of the series was announced earlier this year and fans were left wondering if such a series would work (especially after the less-than-favourable Sex And The City prequel series, The Carrie Diaries), but after watching the first trailer for the show we are pleasantly surprised.
In the trailer, the younger Sheldon displays all of his unusual quirks which we have come to love, but we are also given an insight into his home life and his somewhat strained relationships with his father and siblings.
But a touching moment takes place between Sheldon and his father at the end of the trailer which makes it even more loveable!
Young Sheldon follows the antics of Sheldon Cooper in 1989, when he was nine years old.
Jim Parsons, who plays the grown-up quirky theoretical physicist in The Big Bang Theory, will narrate the new series whilst Iain Armitage will be playing pre-teen Sheldon.
You may recognise Iain, as he recently starred as Ziggy Chapman, son of Shailene Woodley’s character Jane, in the hit HBO series Big Little Lies.
The spin-off follows Sheldon’s childhood in East Texas where he resided with his parents, twin sister and older brother.
Zoe Perry play’s Sheldon’s mother in the new series, which is a role her real-life mother has already played! Zoe’s mother is Laurie Metcalf, who played the older version of Sheldon’s mother in The Big Bang Theory.
Young Sheldon will premiere in the US in September this year, but we have no word yet on if or when it will air in Australia.
