TV WEEK quizzes some of The Bachelor Australia contestant’s mums and dads about how they feel watching their daughters on TV – and whether Matty is a good match.
Scroll down to see who thinks Matty is a perfect match for their daughter and who doesn’t!
Lorraine (Simone’s mum)
What did you think when Simone told you she was going on the show?
Simone is her own person and I have always supported her decisions. I did worry about her getting negative comments but I am still as proud of Simone as I always have been. We have a very close relationship (like sisters) and she knows there is nothing in the world she can’t tell me.
Simone has struggled with some of the girls. Has that been hard to watch?
I can’t say its all been easy but I know Simone and she can handle herself and I do believe she has come across really well.
Did you know Simone previously worked as a topless waitress?
There is nothing in the show that will be shown or aired that has me concerned in the slightest as I mentioned earlier Simone and I are really close and I knew her past work. I am hurt for her that it had to be brought up, but she has got nothing to be ashamed of.
What was your first impression of Matty J when you met him?
He is very likable, genuine and I loved his hair!
Brad (Cobie’s dad)
What was your biggest concern about Cobie going on the show?
I thought she would get hurt and wouldn’t be able to cope with the big personalities.
What was your first impression of Matty J when you met him?
It was difficult to judge Matty on the small amount of time spent with him. However Matty came across very family orientated, sincere and genuine.
How does he compare to Cobie’s previous boyfriends?
I can’t compare Matty to any of Cobie’s previous partners based on one meeting. It would be unfair on everybody for me to judge as everyone has different qualities in life.
Did you give Cobie any advice prior to going on the show?
I told her to have fun, enjoy the experience and to just be herself.
Leanne (Jen’s mum)
Did you want Jen to go on the show?
My concern was knowing she isn’t afraid to voice her opinion on anything and how that could be easily edited for a storyline on the show.
Are you happy with how Jen has been portrayed?
I can’t say I am entirely happy with the way she has been portrayed. Don’t get me wrong, everything she has said would have been said at some time during recording, but there is a carefully balanced contradiction with Jen, and many layers to her personality which Australia haven’t been shown yet, but hey, it would have been an incredibly boring season without her there stirring the pot.
Do you believe Matty is Jen’s type?
I think he is the type that all mums would love their daughter to bring home, but honestly as I watch the show progress I don’t think he is Jen’s type at all.
She is really attracted to a man who will tell her when she is stepping out of line and somebody who is a strong masculine figure, however can be gentle and caring at the same time. As lovely as Matty is, I don’t feel he possesses those first two qualities. I could be wrong…..who knows!
Phil (Elise’s dad)
Did you give Elise any advice prior to going on the show?
Be true to yourself – and don’t drink too much at the cocktail parties!
Is Matty Elise’s type?
Yes, I thought there’s potential there. He seemed to have good values, strong genuine personality, outgoing and caring nature – things Elise respects.
What did you say to Matty when you met him?
I didn’t want my daughtet to be taken advantage of for the sake of the show and a story.
What are your thoughts on the other girls?
There have been some crazy things going on in that house!
