In a shocking turn of events, Tarzan, 51, was voted out of Australian Survivor last night. The result came as a tough blow following Tarzan’s recent selfless behaviour. He chose firewood for the tribe over his own private cookie jar and he also gave the immunity idol to fellow campmate Tessa.
Despite the way things unfolded, Tarzan says he wouldn’t have changed the way he played the game.
“I had to do what I had to do to keep Tessa in; otherwise she would have gone last night,” he tells TV WEEK.
“I must say, I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to the strategy of the game. But I played the way I felt I should play and I have no regrets.”
He also holds no hard feelings towards the camp troublemaker AK.
“I’ve said this to a few people and I don’t mean this in any bad way, but he’s [AK] the kind of guy that when you meet him you probably want to punch him in the head,” Tarzan laughs. “He’s an annoying little p****.
“You just kind of think, ‘Mate, settle down’. But the reality is it’s getting him through the game. He’s a player. I take my hat off to him. I still hope Tessa wins it, but I’ve got to say. AK is a formidable foe.”
He might be tough on the outside, but Tarzan admits he wept while watching last night’s episode play out.
“When you watch yourself, you’re straight back into the emotion,” he explains. “I cried sitting there [watching the show].”
At this stage of the game, Tarzan is hoping Tessa takes out the title of Sole Survivor, but he knows there are still plenty of threats.
“My money is on Tessa. Next to her would be AK, for intelligence of the game. But muscle plays a big part in the early parts too and I think Locky is certainly going to be one to beat. I think he has the best chance of any of them, but I’m still hoping for Tess.”
