Audiences fell in love with Sophie Monk when she appeared on our screens as probably the funniest Bachelorette in the history of the show, but now we’re about to get another dose of the blonde beauty – as the host of Love Island.

Nine officially confirmed the exciting news this morning that the 37-year-old Bardot singer will be heading to Spain to help a group of single Aussies find love.

“I’m so excited. It’s honestly a dream for me,” Sophie told TheFIX. “It’s so simple but fun, and the drama in it — to see if Australia can tell if [the singles] are there for the right reasons. I love psychology, so it’s fully exciting. It’s the ideal job.”

“How awesome will it be to work in Spain in summer!” she added in Channel Nine’s press release. “Love Island is like nothing Australia has ever had, it’s right up my alley!”

As reported by NW, the news was swirling almost two weeks ago that she had landing the hosting gig.

Last month, however, she revealed she didn’t want to do any more reality television. Speaking with Lisa Wilkinson for a Huff Post Facebook Live, she said: “I think I’m done. I’d do my own travel show but I don’t think so.”

Despite that, it seems she will be getting to do some travel TV work. Sophie will present a travel special for Nine’s digital platforms.

Love Island, which is modelled off the UK’s successful dating series, will debut on 9Go and 9Now in 2018. Young singles from 18-35 years old will try to find love on the island. The men and women will have to pair up and at the end of the show, one couple will win a cash prize – but will they share it or will one of them take the money for themselves? Intruders will stir things up AND the public are able to vote people out. We cannot wait!

While speaking to KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O this morning about the show, she was asked how much money her hosting job is worth. In her answer, however, she mentions she’s a ‘single woman’.

“I’m not rolling in it but I think for a single woman my age, I do pretty well,” she told the radio hosts. “I just need enough to pay my mortgage, I’d like to go on holidays and do whatever I want.”

Does this mean she’s no longer with her chosen (millionaire) man, Stu Laundy? Watch the clip below.
