We’re calling it – Sex Education is one of the best shows on Netflix right now.
The first season premiered at the beginning of 2018 and broke the streaming platform’s own records, with more than 40 million viewers tuning in over the first few weeks to watch this hilarious coming-of-age comedy.
Now, the second season is set to drop on Friday January 17, just in time for us to binge watch all weekend.
Of course, part of the charm of this wonderful show is the cast – mostly unknown actors (until now), who brilliantly manage to convey all the complexities, joy, angst and sexual tension that comes with being a teenager.
And in season 2, there are some new additions to this stellar lineup, with a few intriguing characters joining the gang in Moordale.
Keep on scrolling to meet the talented actors who bring these characters to life.

1
Lead character Otis is a fumbling, bumbling, awkward nerd who has loads of weird hang-ups about sex, thanks to his mother Jean, who is a sex therapist with little understanding of, er, personal boundaries.
2
Otis is played by British actor Asa Butterfield, who in real life, in a lot cooler than Otis. Until recently, he sported bleached blonde hair. Oh, and he has a casual 2.7 million Instagram followers.
2
Otis’ mother Jean is smart, sexy, but a little bit crazy. And she wears the best outfits.
4
Jean is played by The X-Files star Gillian Anderson.

The show’s main female character, the moody but brilliant Maeve, is played by British actress Emma Mackey. Despite trading her bleached blonde and pink locks from Season 1 for a chic brunette hairdo in this season, we still think Emma is a dead ringer for Aussie actress Margot Robbie.
Aimee
The adorable Aimee is actually played by an actress with the same name – Aimee Lou Wood.

Sex Education is Aimee’s first big acting gig.
