Kaitlyn admits to TV WEEK she signed up to the social experiment so she could enjoy her 15 minutes of fame.

“I thought it was going to be fun – that I’d be on national TV and it would be a great experience,” the 28-year-old says. “I didn’t take it seriously.”

“I thought my relationship didn’t have any problems. But it actually brought up real issues I didn’t want to face.”

Since returning to normal life, Kaitlyn, who was matched with hothead Michael, says she’s relieved the experience has come to an end.

“I saw the real Michael before I ever saw him snap, but it can be scary to experience it,” she explains. “I’m a sensitive person. I was terrified.

“He’s a good person. I don’t think he’d have physically hurt Felicity or me, but he needs to work on his anger issues.”

Mark, meanwhile, who his matched partner Felicity criticised throughout for not being honest, confesses he was also playing up for the cameras.

“On the show, risk to me was everything,” the 33-year-old reveals, adding he was mindful of what he did and said.

“Risk is a big part of my job
in IT,” he explains. “I need to minimise risk to the company − I have that in the back of my mind the whole time.

“I was thinking ahead [on the show] and asking, ‘How is this going to be twisted or turned to make me look bad or make me look good.’”
