The glamorous ladies of Melbourne are set to grace our screens once more, with Foxtel announcing on Tuesday night that The Real Housewives of Melbourne has been commissioned for a fifth season.
Following a two-year break, RHOM will be returning to our screens on Arena in 2020.
Foxtel Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh says casting discussions for the new season have commenced, in conjunction with Matchbox Pictures.
“The Real Housewives of Melbourne took Australia by storm, changing our television landscape like never before and we are delighted to bring it back,” Walsh says.
“This series has a huge following of loyal and adoring fans and it was paramount we picked the perfect time to commission a fifth season. We are proud to partner once again with Matchbox Pictures with a big cast shake up set for the new season which will see fresh faces join some of our most loved Melbourne Housewives.”
But the questions remains, which Housewives are returning?
When last we left off, the RHOM cast consisted of original stars Gina Liano, Lydia Schiavello, Jackie Gillies and Janet Roach. Gamble Breaux, who joined in the show’s second season, was also in the mix, along with newcomers Sally Bloomfield and Venus Behbahani-Clark.
Overnight, Jackie took to Instagram to share old photos of herself on the show, writing in the caption: “#RHOMelbourne S5 in 2020. Who’s watchin?”
Does this mean she’s one of the show’s returning stars? We cerainly hope so, RHOM wouldn’t be the same without Jackie’s shine.
Lydia also shared the announcement on Instagram, writing: “Here it is…. the drama continues! Bring on 2020.”
Meanwhile, Venus revealed she was currently celebrating the announcement in America.
“Ok…so I’ve received lots of messages regarding season 5 @rhomelbourne but I’m currently in USA and excited that you’re all excited!” Venus writes. “So I’ll join you NOW in excitement…wohooooo. Bring it on.”
Gina, Janet, Sally and Gamble are yet to post about the new season, though their bios still list them as cast members. We’re not sure the series will be as funny without Gina’s classic one-liners, or Janet’s pot-stirring ways.
Only time – and Foxtel – will reveal which stars are officially returning for the fifth season, and we can hardly wait!
