For those of us still reeling from the Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson fiasco of โ€™17, this new update will give you a sense of calm.

Allison Langdon and Peter Stefanovic have been announced as the new hosts of Weekend Today on the Nine network.

Channel Nine confirmed that the former 60 Minutes reporters are taking over the helm from former co-hosts Tom Steinfort and Deborah Knight.

A big round of applause of Allison and Pete.

The new faces of Weekend Today!

Allison, who was pipped to become Karl Stefanovicโ€™s side-kick before Georgie Gardener got the gig, says sheโ€™s very excited to be working with his little brother.

โ€œIโ€™m really excited to be joining the Weekend Today team,โ€ the respected journalist said.

โ€œPete is a great mate and has been for many years. We both take our journalism very seriously but not ourselves. We have a lot of laughs together and I look forward to sharing that with our Today audience alongside Jayne, who is one of the best and hardest working journalists in the country,โ€ the mother-of-one added.

The experienced presenter will continue to file stories with 60 Minutes, making this new venture a โ€œwonderful fit.โ€

Deb and Tom will remain within the network

Meanwhile, Sylvia Jeffreys main man is stoked about the new gig.

โ€œTo be asked back to co-host Weekend Today is a privilege, and it definitely feels like Iโ€™m returning home. Iโ€™ve known Ally for more than ten years. Sheโ€™s a great journalist, smart and funny, and I look forward to working alongside her and Jayne,โ€ Pete said.

The network seems particularly chuffed with their decision, with Nineโ€™s director of news Darren Wick remarking, โ€œWhat a team to wake up with every weekend. The dynamics and professionalism of Ally, Pete and Jayne guarantees a relaxed and warm start to your weekend, and I couldnโ€™t be happier.โ€

We canโ€™t wait to see Pete in action.

Despite the big shuffle, Jayne Azzopardi will continue as the showโ€™s newsreader.

As previously reported, Deb Knight is leaving the weekend team after six years.
