The 31-year-old from Western Australia was sent home tonight after failing to impress the judges with his take on Yotam’s Mezze Feast.
So is it back to operating cranes for the cool, calm and collected contestant? TV WEEK caught up with Pete to find out what’s next on his menu.
How did you find the whole MasterChef experience?
It was very stressful, but a great experience to go through.
Favourite moment from your time on the show?
Every time I survived an elimination!
Most embarrassing moment?
The dish that put me into my final elimination. I really stuffed it!
What dish are you most proud of?
I was so proud to get Andy Bowdy’s “Rita” cake up and also Gaz’s Roast Chook. They were a tough challenge!
What is your relationship like with the other contestants? Who were you close to?
It was a really friendly house, everybody got along well.
Who was your biggest competition and why?
I was my own biggest competition, your head thinks some crazy thoughts while you’re in the MasterChef kitchen, the tough bit is sorting through the good and bad ideas on the spot.
Did you have a favourite judge?
They were all great in their own unique ways.
Which judge did you find most intimidating and why?
All of them! They have such a wealth of knowledge and you realise how little you know about food.
Who do you want to win and why?
Tamara, she is our last hope from W.A. She’s an amazing cook and Australia’s sweetheart.
What did you miss most while in the competition?
My girlfriend and the occasional pint.
What’s next for you?
Work experience in some of the best restaurants around and then time for a change of career!
If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I’d cook more desserts, it seems I have a knack for it and it may have kept me in the comp longer!
