This year’s Ninja Warrior competition is tipped to be won by Red Wiggle Simon Pryce and his PT wife Lauren Hannaford.
The 46-year-old Red Wiggle met 31-year-old Lauren on set, where Lauren spent four-and-a-half years all suited up as The Wiggles’ Dorothy The Dinosaur!
After her time as part of the Wiggles family, and coinciding with the PT’s Ninja Warrior experience, Lauren started her fitness program, FHIT (Functional High-Intensity Training) based on her o personal experience.
Here, Lauren shares how she went from Dorothy to Ninja Warrior.
How does a Ninja Warrior Australia contender get so buff and strong in the months leading up to the competition?
With my gymnastics background, training has always been such a big part of my life. With the lead up to ninja, in particular, I was doing my FHIT program, it worked so well with how much I travel as I was able to train anywhere, anytime with my online workouts.
Without always having access to a gym or bar to swing from it was okay because my workouts combine my knowledge of core gymnastics techniques mixed with interval training.
What does a Ninja Warrior diet look like? What can you eat? What can’t you eat?
We are all on a diet of concrete and rocks to harden ourselves up for the course haha. I just kept my diet as I would normally and made sure I was eating lots of fresh food. Vegetables because I LOVE vegetables but also made sure I was getting a good source of protein and carbs for sustained energy and muscle repair.
I didn’t overly indulge in anything or deprive myself of anything. It’s almost keeping a healthy diet and lifestyle consistent.
What kind of Ninja workouts can our readers do at home to feel strong and healthy like a Ninja?
I most definitely would say my FHIT Lauren Hannaford workouts! There is a large range of workouts to suit all fitness levels, whether readers are wanting to scale the ninja course or run around in the backyard with the kids there are workouts that will have them feeling limber and strong.
The beauty of FHIT is you can do the workouts anywhere, anytime and you don’t need any equipment.
