Over the years many favourite faces have come back to say hello, cause chaos or stay for good. Take a look back at some of the best character returns so far!
Dee Bliss, 2017:
Fans had been waiting 13 years to see if Dee (Madeleine West) was still alive after the car she was in plunged off a cliff into the ocean. While her husband Toadie (Ryan Maloney) survived, Dee’s body was never found. Toadie moved on with his life and found love with Sonya (Eve Morey) so it was a massive shock when Dee showed up alive and well on his door step. But it was all a lie. The woman claiming to be Dee was really a look alike named Andrea who wanted to scam money out of Toadie. Andrea’s most scandalous act was sleeping with Toadie while Sonya watched via video chat. There’s speculation Andrea will be back again after she made a brief appearance in the 2017 season finale spying on Toadie and Sonya’s vow renewal ceremony.
Steph Scully, 2013 and 2015:
She left Erinsborough when she was sent to prison for the death of Ringo (Sam Clark) who she struck with her motorbike. In 2013 Steph (Carla Bonner) moved back to town and started working at Harold’s store. She ended up having a psychotic episode and kidnapped Lucas’s (Scott Major) son. Steph was sent to a psychiatric facility for treatment but returned in 2015 and was able to get her life back on track.
Mark Brennan, 2013:
He was the hot detective who fell in love with Kate (Ashleigh Brewer) but was forced to go into witness protection. Kate missed her chance to join Mark (Scott McGregor) by minutes leaving her heartbroken. But nothing devastated her more than when she was told Mark died while in witness protection. Then Mark made a shock appearance during an eclipse which made Kate think she was seeing things. But he was the real deal, explaining that his death was faked to keep him safe. Mark left town when Kate turned him down. But he returned months later to win her back once and for all. After getting engaged, Kate was shot dead and Mark has been in Erinsborough ever since.
Paul Robinson, 2004:
One of the original characters, Paul (Stefan Dennis) left Erinsborough in 1992 and fled to Brazil to avoid prison for fraud. But in 1993 he returned to Australia when his grandmother Helen died and finally went to jail. Paul came back in 2004 just as the Lassiters complex burned to the ground. He rebuilt the property and his empire. It was later revealed that Paul started the fire himself.
Nina Tucker, 2004:
Shy school girl Nina’s (Delta Goodrem) time on Ramsay Street was cut short when Delta was diagnosed with cancer in 2003. Nina left Erinsborough to visit her father in India where she ended up becoming a Bollywood career. Following treatment Delta returned in 2004 to wrap up Nina’s storylines. Nina came back to be with Jack (Jay Ryan) and he eventually reunited with her in LA. The character made another appearance for the 30th anniversary of the show in 2015.
Harold Bishop, 1996:
He was travelling with Madge (Anne Charleston) around Australia when their visit to the seaside was cruelly interrupted. While standing on rocks Harold (Ian Smith) was swept out to sea presumed dead in 1991. As luck would have it, Harold had been rescued by a fishing trawler and started working for the Salvation Army. Suffering from amnesia he was unaware that when he moved to Erinsborough in 1996 he was actually returning home. Eventually with the help of Madge and the residents of Ramsay Street Harold got his memory back.
