Ryan Moloney had put Neighbours and his much-loved character Jarrod ‘Toadfish’ Rebecchi to bed. Now, he’s doing media interviews about the show’s revival.
”It’s crazy!” Ryan, 42, tells TV WEEK. ”It’s like you’ve risen from the dead and here we are. This is the last thing I expected to be doing.”
While there was some initial optimism the iconic 37-year-old Aussie drama would be revived, by the time the final episode aired on July 28, 2022, those hopes seemed to have faded like an over-washed, sun-bleached pair of Charlene’s (Kylie Minogue) overalls.
New episodes are expected to air in the latter half of 2023.
(Image: Ten)But almost four months after fans waved goodbye to Ramsay Street for good, the makers of Neighbours, Fremantle, struck a deal with Amazon Freevee, meaning the show will be back on our screens later this year.
Production has already started on the reboot of the beloved series, with new episodes slated to air in the latter half of 2023.
In exciting news for fans, many of their favourite characters will be returning to Ramsay Street, with Ryan Moloney reprising his role as Toadie, Jackie Woodburne returning as Susan Kennedy, Alan Fletcher as Dr Karl Kennedy, and Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson.
Speaking at the 63rd TV WEEK Logie Awards red carpet, Fletcher told TV WEEK, “Anyone who loves Neighbours is going to get the Neighbours they expect and love, but it’s going to be more.”

(Image: Getty)“We’ve got a 37-year-old knife there that’s been sharpened and it’s ready to go in a very exciting way,” continued Fletcher.
While the cast and crew have kept the overall plotline of the reboot close to their chest, the stars did share a glimpse at what fans can expect.
“It’s amazing. We can’t give anything away, but we were blown away. When I was called in to our executive producers office and he told me the opening storyline, I was absolutely blown away. It was the last thing I expected,” Rebekah Elmaloglou told TV WEEK, with Alan adding, “I was on Zoom and I screamed! “
“It’s like we’ve cleared out. It’s changed and it’s a different feeling there. We’ve got some astonishing new storylines so just you wait!” added Jacinta Stapleton.
The beloved cast are back for another season.
(Image: Getty)The beloved residents of Ramsay Street will also be joined by a few new neighbours, with Mischa Barton joining the cast.
“We have Mischa Barton joining us which is very exciting.. I only had a couple of scenes with Mischa but she was really lovely and really professional,” said Georgie Stone.
“We’ve got a whole bunch of new main characters as well who are just so exciting and incredible at what they do and it’s just been so much fun.”
Neighbours premieres Monday, September 18 At 4:30pm on 10 And 10 Play, and 6:30pm on 10 Peach.
Neighbours fans will be able to catch all the latest action on 10, with episodes also available to stream on Prime Video the following week. For fans in the US and UK can stream all the Ramsay Street drama for free on Amazon Freevee.
