While many people audition for reality TV shows for their 15 minutes of fame, My Kitchen Rules beauty Courtney has her sights set on something much bigger.
The bubbly and ambitious 29-year-old, who joined the show with her mum Valerie, says she hopes to land herself a job on TV once the show wraps.
“I would love to be a TV presenter,” Courtney reveals to TV WEEK. “That’s something I’ve always wanted to do. So if an opportunity presented itself, I would definitely take it.”
Ideally, Courtney would also like to incorporate her love of cooking.
“Being on MKR has opened so many doors for me, and Mum and I would like to get a sauce range going and publish our cookbook,” she says.
“I just love the whole experience. And being in front of a camera felt natural to me, so I would somehow like to incorporate that into presenting in the future.”
While not everyone could work with their mum on a reality TV show, it has been a breeze for Courtney.
“Mum and I have always been very close,” Courtney says. “She’s a tough woman in terms of upbringing. She has good values – she always said you must get a good education, go to uni, buy a house. She’s very tough in that way, but an absolute softie at heart as well.”
So what are Valerie’s plans once the show wraps? A trip to India!
“I’d love to learn more about the street food of India,” Valerie says. “That style of cooking is so interesting.”
Opening her own cooking school is also on the cards for Valerie.
“During filming, I always had the MKR contestants knocking at my door and sitting around my kitchen bench,” Valerie recounts. “They all called me Mama V and said, ‘You should have a cooking school.’ I’d love to do that.”
