One of television’s favourite families is relocating. Channel Seven has secured the rights to air the latest episodes of Modern Family thanks to a deal with FOX.
The acquisition comes off the back of Channel Ten entering administration and dropping the key title along with other big shows.
The US sitcom was previously a big ratings driver for Ten; however the broadcaster’s money woes resulted in a cancellation of its deal with Fox Studios in October last year.
Seven was quick to also sign the rights to The Simpson, The Resident, MASH and How I Met Your Mother.
The announcement came from Seven West Media’s Tim Warner amidst the company’s six monthly report to investors.
Tim told investors: “Our new content deal with 21st Century Fox brings a mix of iconic and proven series. Shows like The Simpsons and How I Met Your Mother will add to the best of their new programming. I am confirming today that new Modern Family will be on Seven.”
“This all adds up to a guaranteed boost in our demographic performance year on year.”
New episodes of Modern Family will begin airing in April after the Commonwealth Games in a regular time slot.
