Matty J and Laura Byrne gave us the ending we were all hoping for during The Bachelor Australia 2017 finale, and now they have their sights set on a “normal life.”
Speaking with the Sydney Morning Herald, Matty painted a picture far removed from what we’ve come to expect from the heartthrob.
“She was helping change nappies the other day, doing all these unglamorous things,” he told the publication.
“Gone are the days of super yachts and helicopters… That’s been replaced by dirty nappies and taking out the garbage.”
Before you get too excited, those dirty nappies belong to his little niece. Matty’s sister welcomed a daughter, Millie Clifton, earlier in the week.
“It’s nice to have all the attention on Sophie [Monk], so Laura and I can just kind of get on with normal life.”
Cute!
The 30-year-old recently shared a picture of himself cradling his new niece, bursting ovaries all over the nation.
The caption on the adorable images reads:
“Couldn’t be happier with my sister and brother-in-law to add this little bundle of joy to the family. Welcome to the world, Millie Clifton. You’re pretty bloody perfect.”
Matty has always been very open about his desire to become a father.
“I think I’ve always been good with kids,” He told OK!.
His sister agrees.
“Seeing him with George [Matty’s nephew] – he’d be a great dad,” she explained.
While Matty has made it crystal clear that he’s looking to settle down and start a family, the jewellery designer doesn’t feel any pressure to make it happen too quickly.
“I don’t want to settle just because I feel like my biological clock is ticking,” Laura told OK! in a separate interview.
“I really want to be in an awesome relationship, and have that be the basis of having a family.”
Despite her reluctance, the two have definitely discussed bigger milestones — including kids and marriage.
“We both want to get married one day, we both want kids one day, we both want to live in the Eastern suburbs,” she added.
Guess we’ll just have to wait a little bit longer for this ex-Bachelor’s next big announcement!
