โ€œLike any good marriage, weโ€™ve learnt tolerance and are very intuitive of one another,โ€ Gary explains of the showโ€™s longevity. โ€œWe also have a rule where we can each be grumpy once each day!โ€

Here, the boys spill six secrets from behind the scenesโ€ฆ

1. A-list guests

Stars love the show โ€“ even Prince Charles wanted in, so heโ€™ll be appearing this season!

โ€œHe was amazing,โ€ gushes Matt. โ€œIt was wonderful to watch him work the room. He was far removed from that cold and aloof image some have of him.โ€

The Dalai Lama was also โ€œwonderfulโ€, George explains.

โ€œI loved how he stayed so neutral. He refused to say anything bad.โ€

And Nigella Lawson has become so fond of MasterChef, Gary says she calls the judges her โ€œnaughty brothers!โ€

2. Their fave dish ever

โ€œI still remember Alvin [Quahโ€™s] drunken chicken from season two,โ€ tells George. โ€œIt was so delicious.โ€

Matt reveals โ€œno-oneโ€ cooks lamb like Julie Goodwin, while Gary says itโ€™s always โ€œemotional and lovelyโ€ to eat something Poh Ling Yeow makes. Living the foodie dream, guys!

3. The ex-contenders

โ€œThroughout the years Iโ€™ve kept in touch with a lot of the contestants,โ€ says George. โ€œBut Poh stands out for sure. Weโ€™ve got a wonderful connection, sheโ€™s a wonderful human being and I love her to bits.โ€

Gary says he has too many favourites to mention, but the โ€œclass of 2009โ€ is a special group because it was the first.

4. Battle of the bulge

Being a judge isnโ€™t easy on the waistline!

โ€œI keep active because Iโ€™ve got two beautiful kids and a beautiful partner who I want to be around for,โ€ says George, who lost 20kg after they crept on.

โ€œBut a six-pack isnโ€™t happening!โ€

โ€œOh my God, look how young we look and look how badly dressed we are!โ€

5. What gets up in the judges grill

โ€œMatt is always late,โ€ says Gary. โ€œHe once described himself as โ€˜no prisoner of timeโ€™. George can be annoyingly positive from the moment he wakes up. Heโ€™s also constantly on his phone.โ€

George reckons itโ€™s Garyโ€™s obsession with boxing thatโ€™s irritating, while Matt says deconstructed foods get to him. LOL!

6.The fashion, darling!

Mattโ€™s always been known for his flamboyant style โ€“ especially his cravats โ€“ but he finds looking back at the trioโ€™s earliest outfits cringe-worthy!

โ€œI look at our old publicity shots [above] and think, โ€˜Oh my God, look how young we look and look how badly dressed we are!'โ€
