The MasterChef Australia team headed to Japan this week.

And when they weren’t fronting up for the cameras, setting challenges and tasting competition dishes, judges Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston were busy playing tourist and enjoying the sights.

“My favourite thing to do in Japan is eat,” Gary, 50, tells TV WEEK. “There’s so much to try. Some dishes are familiar, others new. I’ve been [to Japan] twice now. It’s a must-visit.”
