She’s one of the most popular faces on TV. But Lisa Wilkinson confessed the past 12 months or so have been her most tumultuous yet.

Lisa lost her beloved mother Beryl in March. She also had a serious fall in Italy in June 2017, which required months of daily treatment.

And, of course, she controversially left Nine Network’s breakfast show Today last October after co-hosting for 10 years.

Lisa attends the 2018 TV WEEK Logie Awards.

“The universe has thrown everything at me the past couple of years,” the 58-year-old said. “But I’m probably old enough, and have faced enough challenges in my life, to take it in my stride as much as I can.

“To lose my mum was pretty tough, but that’s how life goes. You have to get on with it.”

Lisa said her mother used to love the Logies – and that she was thinking of her on the red carpet this year.

“She’ll be up there watching it,” she said affectionately on the night. “And she’ll tell me what she thinks of the dress.”

Lisa said she’s enjoying every minute of her role on Network Ten’s The Project, including working with co-host and 2015 Gold Logie winner Carrie Bickmore. That’s despite rumours of a rift between the high-profile presenters.

“Carrie and I love working together,” she enthused. “We’re incredibly supportive of each other as people, as friends, and of each other’s careers.

“It’s so great that I can do this job. She works four days a week and I do the other shows, so it works out perfectly.”
