Actor Michael Parks sadly passed away on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. He was 77. At this stage, no cause of death has been announced. He leaves behind his wife Oriana and son James.
Michael had a prolific career in Hollywood working in film and television for over 50 years. Born in 1940, California, Michael had the world at his feet. As the son of a baseball player, Michael quickly learnt the ropes and was offered to play minor league baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates, to which he turned down.
He then delved into the world of acting, making his debut in an episode of The Real McCoys in 1961. From there, a star was born. He starred in the 1969 series Then Came Bronson, in which he also sang the theme song. The song even reach No.20 on the Billboard charts.
Despite his under-the-radar profile, he has since appeared in a number of hit TV shows including Dynasty and most notably, as casino owner and drug runner Jean Renault on Twin Peaks. A favourite of directors Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith and Robert Rodriguez, Michael has also appeared in award-nominated films such as Kill Bill and Django Unchained.
He also had a role in Ben Affleck’s Oscar-winning picture, Argo, as well as horror flicks Red State and Tusk.
Robert recently took to his Twitter page to farewell his friend and colleague.
Kevin Smith has also paid tribute to Michael in a heartfelt post on social media.
At the time of his death, Michael was reportedly set to star in Christian Bale’s upcoming flick, Hostiles.
