Policewoman Kat Chapman (Pia Miller) and her unborn baby boy tragically died in the season finale of Home And Away after a horrific car crash. She and boyfriend Robbo (Jake Ryan) were leaving Summer Bay forever when their car collided with another – the driver being Jasmine Delaney, played by Bachelorette alum Sam Frost.
“It was super emotional,” the 34-year-old actress told TV WEEK of filming her final scene.
“The cast and crew become an extended family, we spend more time with them then we do our own families sometimes so it was incredibly hard knowing I wouldn’t be returning back on set the following week.”
Pia’s character has been through quite a lot over the years – she’s been kidnapped, threatened with murder, shot and almost crushed by a car. So, as we bid farewell to one of our favourite characters, we rounded up her top five intense moments in Summer Bay.
Cliff fall
Kat tries to rescue Billie (Tessa De Josselin) from a cliff, but when she moves at the last minute, Kat plunges towards the ocean. She hangs on for life and is eventually saved by Billie.
Kat is shot
Being a police officer, she’s always in the line of fire. This time, she’s trying to break up a fight between local drug dealer Damo (Josh Anderson) and Josh (Jackson Gallagher). When Damo hears police sirens outside the house they’re in he grabs and in the scuffle Kat is shot. She is treated at hospital and survives.
Kat is gassed
Many of Kat’s craziest scenes involved her investigation of teacher, Charlotte King (Erika Heynatz). When killer Charlotte realises Kat is on to her, she drugs her. And when that fails she has her knocked out and left near an open gas oven. Ash (George Mason) gets to her just in time.
