It’s been only three weeks since power couple Josh Barker and Elyse Knowles’ five-bedroom Elsternwick home on The Block sold for a whopping $3.067 million at auction (to comedian Dave Hughes). Their incredible result made them the winners of the 2017 reality renovation series and put $547,000 in their pockets.
But now they’ve just sold their very first property, a home in Melbourne’s Coburg they bought in 2014 for $1.63 million. (Watch the video above)
The young couple sure know how to flip a house – they originally bought it for $600,000.
Carpenter Josh and model Elyse spent 18 months renovating it into a Californian bungalow.
“We went a long time without showers, we showered outside,” Elyse, 25, told Domain about the renovation process. “We lived off a barbecue. We had no walls during winter so we had a puffer jacket on going to bed.”
As the house went under the hammer on Saturday, 500 fans went through the front doors to have a peek at the gorgeous three-bedroom, two-bathroom home. Fellow Block couple Hannah and Clint were there to celebrate the big win.
Now that Josh and Elyse have sold this one, they’ll move onto another project.

“Then we’ll be buying another ugly duckling … and then we can renovate and hopefully do grand designs and a more architectural build and show off our talents a bit more,” Elyse told News.com.au.
But they’ll be having a little break before doing so – they need to soak up their big Block win! “I just want to be chilling out at the beach or the river, and just take time out for ourselves,” said Elyse.
“I think it’s really important when you’re so busy just to take a step back and appreciate everything you’ve done in the year.”
