Jennifer Aniston is making her TV comeback alongside Big Little Lies star Reese Witherspoon in a brand new series. The two actresses are working together on the upcoming series, which is centred around the world of morning TV in New York.
The untitled show hasn’t yet been signed with a network or streaming service, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, both Netflix and HBO are lining up to make bids.
House Of Cards writer Jay Carson is said to be writing the script and the series will be produced by former HBO drama head Michael Ellenberg.
Since Friends wrapped in 2004, Jennifer, 48, has made cameos in 30 Rock and Cougar Town, but this new project will be her first recurring TV role in 13 years.
This won’t be the first time that Jennifer and Reese, 41, have teamed up on TV.
Reese played Jill Green, the younger sister of Jennifer’s character Rachel. She appeared in season six of Friends when she came to stay with Rachel after being financially cut off from their father.
Reese has been enjoying the success of her television series Big Little Lies, which she starred in earlier this year alongside Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz and Shailene Woodley.
Following the end of the seven episode mini-series of Big Little Lies, fans took to social media to petition for a second series of the show.
Reese, who also served as Executive Producer of the series, encouraged fans to contact BLL writer Liane Moriarty with their support for another story.
“One of the main questions everyone keeps asking us is is there going to be a Season 2?” Reese told InStyle.
“We’ve been talking with the writer, and you guys should Facebook Liane Moriarty and tell her how much you want to see Big Little Lies 2. That would be good. She’s thinking about ideas, and so we would love to hear ideas.”
Whilst there has been no more news of the Big Little Lies front, we are so excited to see what Reese and Jennifer will do with their new series!
