Don’t worry Matty J, there’s bound to be a rose in there somewhere…

As filming for the 2017 series of The Bachelor Australia gets underway, the nation can’t wait to meet the 20 or so lucky women vying for Matty J’s heart.

But according to a source close to the show, the 30-year-old isn’t too pleased with the fresh batch of women, who have been hand-picked by producers to potentially be the new Mrs Matty J.

Bachelor Matty is very unhappy with the selection of girls cast for his series,” an insider exclusively tells us.

“He’s complained that even Richie Strahan’s casting was better. And at least he had Olena Khamula and Alex Nation, saying they were the only attractive ones,” the source adds.

“He’s said there are better girls he could have found himself in Bondi.”

But before Matty throws away his roses and starts scouring the Beach Road Hotel, we should remind him that it always takes a few rounds of eliminations to get to know the cast.

To be honest, we didn’t even realise how much we adored Matty until the pointy end of The Bachelorette last year.

Also MJ, let’s be real here for a sec – it’s The Bachelor aka Australia’s guilty pleasure which means at least 75% of the women have been cast for plot line lols. So it’s always going to take a bit of time and patience to weed out the rose-eaters (as amazing as they are!) from the keepers.

Interestingly, our insider also claims the marketing exec “regrets not fighting for Georgia Love following the reports she and Lee are on the rocks.”

“He wishes he didn’t do the Bachelor as he thinks he could have another chance with Georgia if she and Lee split,” they explain.

However, Ten have since released a statement explaining: “With 22 of Australia’s most eligible Bachelorettes vying for his affection, Matty J is excited to meet his perfect match.”

“Strong chemistry is already developing with some Bachelorettes and viewers will be excited to watch his genuine romance blossom later this year.”

Olena and Alex stole Richie’s heart last year.

Last week, the reality star insisted he couldn’t wait to dive head first into the show and find the girl of his dreams.

“I feel so privileged that I’ve been given the opportunity to be The Bachelor,” he said.

“Without question, the most exciting part is the chance to meet the girl I’m going to spend the rest of my life with.”

Well young Matthew, just you remember that love can blossom like the most beautiful of, um, roses. Yes, we’re going to stick with that analogy in this instance…

Our source says Matty regrets not fighting harder for Georgia Love.
