While watching celebs frantically raise funds for charity on Celebrity Apprentice, we can’t help but wonder what kind of money they’re making to appear on the cut-throat reality show.
The 2022 season of Celebrity Apprentice saw some of the biggest stars we’ve ever seen on Aussie reality television, including NRL royalty Benji Marshall, motivational speaker Turia Pitt and singer Samantha Jade.
The latest season may be done and dusted, but the high calibre drawcards as well as polarising former reality stars like MAFS‘ Beck Zemek and The Block‘s Ronnie Caceres left viewers wondering what kind of salaries the celebs negotiated.
On Thursday, Beck revealed to So Dramatic!: “So [you get paid] a lump sum to come over and then per episode after that, but it’s great money.”
She also addressed rumours that fellow MAFS star Domenica Calarco will make $50,000 for appearing on the 2023 season.
“I think everyone’s talking at the moment about Dom going on the show for $50,000. I’m like, ‘Oh, you can get more than that!’
“I’m not saying how much it was, but there was no way I wasn’t going, especially when it’s a show about raising money for charity.”
Thankfully, Benji shed some light on how the celebrities’ earnings are calculated while on the show.
The former Rabbitohs star revealed he got paid a lump sum that didn’t change depending on how far he went in the competition.
“I think some people in their contract had that if they lasted a certain amount of time, you get more money, so they probably got fired early,” he said on Triple M’s The Monday Scrum show.
Benji said in the show’s first week, a few of the contestants discussed with each other how much money they had signed on for.
“People started talking about how much they were getting paid and a couple of them said an amount and I just agreed and said: ‘Yeah same’. But I was [making] way over [what they were],” he revealed.
“Let’s just say I was very happy.”
Benji revealed he was on holiday in the Whitsundays when his manager called and revealed Channel Nine offered him a spot on the show.
“He said I’ve got this opportunity and I said: ‘That’s not enough. Tell them to double it and I’ll do it’,” the 37-year-old said.
Benji’s admission comes after reports that there was hostility on last year’s Celebrity Apprentice over a pay dispute among the cast.
“Tension grew on set when it was rumoured that [clothing designer] Camilla Franks was paid the least,” a source told Woman’s Day at the time.
“If anything, pay should never be discussed among any cast and is always a dangerous game to play.”
The insider said that the 2021 cast “didn’t make as much coin as you would think”.
“Forget the million-dollar salary Warnie banked for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! This show doesn’t go anywhere near those sorts of dollars,” they said.
Celebrity trainer Michelle Bridges and radio star Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli were last season’s top earners, reportedly netting close to $50,000 each. The Veronicas Lisa and Jess Origliasso are believed to have raked in a combined $60,000.
On the next tier down, singer Anthony Callea and comedian Ross Noble clocked in at $30,000 as did The Block judge Shaynna Blaze.
