Renovating six homes in six weeks was never going to be easy.
But for Gold Coast couple Aaron and Daniella, the pressure to keep up with the competition on House Rules has left them drained in every possible way.
Former dancer Daniella reveals to TV WEEK that at one stage, the physical labour, constant drama and stress of filming became so intense, she almost quit the show.
“Mentally and physically, I was done,” Daniella, 38, says.
“I was ready to go to the airport, but I came back because I knew I had to do this for Aaron and our kids.”
Despite being a mother-of-two and running her own business, Daniella, who had no renovating experience prior to the series, says she’s never felt so tired.
“I’m exhausted after every build,” she explains. “Words can’t explain how I feel.
“It got to the point where I couldn’t lift anything anymore.”
For upbeat Aaron, watching his wife struggle each day has been tough.
“Daniella’s probably the most emotional one on the show,” the 31-year-old says.
“I’m Mr Positive and happy all the time, so I try to encourage her.”
Nevertheless, Aaron admits he couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished so far.
“Daniella jumped into this world and didn’t know anything, which is going to be stressful for anyone,” he reasons.
“It’d be the same if I said I was going to become a pro dancer. She’s been amazing.”
Despite their many hardships, the pair hope all the blood, sweat and tears will pay off.
“Our youngest son, Brooklyn, is 11 months old now,” Daniella says. “So I’ve missed that time to bond with him, which has been hard.”
Aaron adds: “Our boys have always been at the forefront of our minds. We’re doing this for them.”
