Think Andrew and Jono are funny? Well, before House Rules, they launched themselves as a stand-up comedy duo.
Last year, the WA twins entered the RAW comedy open mic competition.
“We ended up making it to the semi-final of that,” Andrew, 27, explains.
Andrew says he’d always wanted to “have a crack” at stand-up comedy, and he decided to bring Jono into it.
“We did some pretty lame puppet sort of routine where I was pretending to be the ventriloquist and he was the puppet,” he remembers with a laugh.
Jono says the whole act was based on how badly he was pretending to be a puppet.
“He wheeled me out in a big cricket bag and then I fell on the floor and he had to prop me up,” he explains.
“I started waving before he even got his hand up the back of my shirt.”
Both Andrew and Jono say they’d like to do more comedy.
“I wouldn’t mind trying stand-up again,” Jono says.
“We’re just trying to work out a routine where both of us can be on stage at the same time. That ventriloquist routine was the best we could come up with!”
Andrew says he might try doing it solo.
“There’s only so much you can do in a pair when it comes to stand-up.”
The boys weren’t smiling during last night’s episode of House Rules.
The WA twins clashed with Aaron and Daniella over how much space they wanted for their kitchen renovations in the communal area.
As the competition heats up, we’re starting to see the friendships suffer.
The pressure is clearly getting to the three remaining teams who all have their eyes on the $200,000 cash prize.
