He’s the man responsible for saving our favourite characters on a regular basis (in case you haven’t noticed, Summer Bay has more than its fair share of tragedies, natural disasters and kidnappings).

Get to know the man beneath the scrubs as we grill Kyle on everything from his role on Home And Away to living life in the public eye.

What are your doctor’s skills like?

I visited a hospital and I saw how they really do things. I was advised on my CPR technique – I was told I could do better. So there’s always more to learn. I had a nurse on Twitter tell me something I was doing wasn’t what they actually do, which was pretty embarrassing.

You’ve been on the show for a few years. Do you ever offer advice to the younger actors?

When I started, I looked at what Steve [Peacocke, who played Brax] and the mature cast were doing, because they were so good. At the start, you’re so wrapped up in what you’re doing, you’re not always aware of what’s going on around you. So now, I try to give newer cast members a few pointers and tell them to relax.

Can you tell us about some of the other jobs you’ve had?

I’ve worked at a prison and at a scuba-diving centre for a couple of years. I was cleaning, making hot chocolates and filling air tanks.

You exercise daily, right?

I try to do something each day that gets the blood pumping – even if it’s just a short run or running up and down the stairs.

How do you feel about being in the public eye?

Steve and Bonnie [Sveen, who played Ricky] would get recognised everywhere, whereas people tend to be shy to come up and say hello to me.

How are things with your fiancée, Julia-Rose O’Connor? Have you ever worked together?

She’s a writer and director, mostly. But it’s great – our dynamic works well.
